Recovery In Test Cricket

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter) LONDON. Miss R. Hyehoe, captain of the England women’s cricket team, helped her side to recover from a bad start in the second test against New Zealand which started at Edgbaston on Saturday. New Zealand scored 131 in its first innings. Miss Hyehoe followed up her 113 and 59 in the first test at Scarborough with 54 not out, during which she shared a third-wicket stand of 70 in 65 minutes with Miss E. Barker, of Surrey, who hit 31. England had lost its openers for five, but recovered to be 37 runs behind New Zealand with six wickets left. New Zealand had also begun badly, losing half its side for 30. But Miss P. Blackler (32) hit five fours, and Miss J. Saulbrey (32 not out) and Miss J. Burley (22) added 38 for the ninth wicket.
