BULL PRICE RECORD
330gns Paid For Friesian What is believed to be a record priefe for a yearling Friesian bull sold at auction in the South Island was realised at the 12th annual South Island Friesian sale held in Christchurch this week. The price was 330 guineas for a bull from A. R. Udy, of Wyndham. The purchaser was L. J. Tasker, of Hamilton. For five bulls Mr Udy had what is considered must be close t 6 a record average of 199gns. A second of his yearlings was sold for 230gns to L. J. Lane, also of Hamilton. The sale, held nt the show grounds at Addington, was a very good one with strong competition. The cattle were of top quality and buyers came from Hamilton to Edendale. For nine bulls the sale average was 157gns and for eight heifers 112gns. The top price for a female was 160gns for a two-year-old heifer sold by Greenslade Brothers, of Lincoln, to E. Fieldes of Richmond, Nelson. There was a family exchange when R. F. Dickie, of Gore, sold another two-year-old heifer to I. J. Dickie, of Edendale, for 125gns. R. G. Mclntosh, of Prebbleton, was also paid 120gns for a heifer of the same age by G. W. Odell, of Brookside. The sale was conducted by Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, Ltd.
