Western To Play Nelson

Canterbury's Chatham Cup qualifier. Western, will play Nelson Rangers in th* South Island semi-finals of the national soccer competition. The Nelson club, Rangers, beat Marlborough Athletic. 9-0, on Saturday, to win Its section and qualify to meet Western. The match will be played in Nelson.

| St. Kilda. the Otago qualifier, won its South Island semi final on Saturday, beating Invercari gill Thistle. 4-1 The winner beI tween Western and Nelson I Rangers wiU meet St. Kilda in the South Island final, on ; August 13 at either Christchurch or Nelson. Eastern Suburbs and Ponsonby • both entered the Auckland provincial final on Saturday.

Ponsonby gave an impressive displav of controlled football on a mu’ddv Newmarket Park to beat Hamilton, 4-1. Suburbs carried too much talent in the other provincial semi-final, to beat Papatoetoe. 4-1. At New Plymouth Moturoa gave one of its best performances In i beating Napier Rovers, 4-2. Motuiroa was three goals up after 20 minutes and in the second half 'was content to play a defensive game to bold on to its lead.
