12 Hurt In Road Accidents

Five persons were admitted to hospital during the week-end as the result of injuries suffered in motor accidents. Another seven persons were treated for injuries at Christchurch Hospital.

Fell From Scooter.—Evan Reese Williams, of 3 Cholmondeley avenue, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with head injuries after he fell from a motor-scooter in Fitzgerald avenue about 1.45 a.m. on Saturday.

Two Injured.— After two cars collided at the corner of Cass and St. James streets, Kaiapoi, on Saturday afternoon two persons were admit-

ted to Christchurch Hospital. They are Ruby Archer, of 31 Sewell place, Kaiapoi, who suffered head, chest and leg injuries, and John Archer, of the same address, who suffered head and arm injuries and shock.

Vehicles Collide.—Two persons were injured when a car and a taxi collided at the corner of Shirley and Quinns roads about 2.15 a.m. yesterday. James Edwards, of 55 Ruskin street, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with head and leg injuries. Brian Waters, of 22 Voss street, was treated for head injuries. Head Lacerations.—Jane Mary Hopkinson suffered head lacerations when two cars collided at the corner of Cashel street and Fitzgerald avenue about 9.45 p.m. on Saturday. She was treated at Christchurch Hospital.

Ran Into Truck.—A car, driven by Barry Eain Bedwell, of 91 Prestons road, was badly damaged when it hit a parked truck in Prestons road about 6 p.m. on Saturday. Mr Bedwell was treated at Christchurch Hospital for facial lacerations. Car Hits Pole.—Peter Allan Keep, of Tl Hei Hei road, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital with head injuries after a car struck a pole at the corner of Buchanans and Carmen roads about 8.20 p.m. on Saturday. Pedestrian Injured.—lsobel Mounga, of 115 Waltham road, was treated at Christchurch Hospital for head, arm and leg injuries after she was struck by a car at the corner of Colombo and Gloucester streets on Saturday afternoon.

Treated At Hospital—Two cars collided at the corner of England and Hereford streets about 4.10 p.m. yesterday. John Anthony Steel, of 22 Opawa road, suffered head injuries, and Jacqueline Leslie, of 34 Murphys road, Blenheim, suffered arm and leg injuries. Both were treated at Christchurch Hospital. Thrown From Motor-cycle. —When a motor-cycle struck a dog in Papanui road near Beverley street about 8.20 p.m. yesterday, the rider and pillion passenger were thrown from the machine and the dog was killed. William Mcllroy, of 8 Sawyers Arms road, was treated at Christchurch Hos-' pital for head and leg injuries. The pillion passenger, Helen Simpson, of 11 Gambia street, was not injured. A woman was walking the dog when it ran across the road.
