DEFENDERS OF HANOI.—The caption to this radio photograph, monitored in Warsaw and issued by a North Vietnam news agency, reads: “With determination to defend the Hanoi capital members of the home guard of the Minh Sang printing works opened fire in time and fiercely fought back in coordination with Hanoi anti-aircraft troops against United States aircraft on June 29.” This was the date of the first United States air strikes at oil storage areas near Hanoi.
