Pilots Call Off Strike

The strike of Australian airline pilots timed to begin tonight has been called off. The Australian Federation of Airline Pilots decided to call off the strike after a compulsory conference with airline proprietors yesterday. Their decision averted a chaotic stoppage of all Australian domestic routes involving 220 airliners.
Killer Whale Dead.—Namu, Seattle’s world-famous killer whale, died tonight when he apparently drowned after becoming entangled in a net at his pen on the waterfront.— Seattle, July 10.
