Sir, —A Heathcote County Councillor, Mr L. L. Smith, was reported on Saturday as saying that a dairy to the north-west of the city is pumping waste milk into a disused well. Such a practice must be tempting to an industry hard-pressed for proper waste disposal facilities. However, no matter what the exigency, it is unpardonable to pollute an aquifier. Jepson) replied: “The dairy factory concerned has not disposed of wastes in this way for some years.
