Air Freight In Little Demand
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 8. Air New Zealand did not receive sufficient freight to warrant cargo space being set aside on the airline’s regular flights, the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine) said in Parliament. Other airlines found New Zealand did not generate sufficient air cargo to permit the use of freight aircraft in this area of the South Pacific, he said.
Replying to Mr M. A. Connelly (Opp., Riccarton), Mr McAlpine said that until such time as there was pressure on Air New Zealand for cargo space, he saw no reason for regular space to be set aside.
