‘NOTHING AMISS’

“The Press” Special Service LEVIN.

Although Gus, a pre-post favourite for the Whyte Handicap at Trentham today, has eaten only half his normal amount and sweated freely after his work-out yesterday, his trainer, L. Tyree, says there is nothing amiss. Gus, which was found in a distressed state in his paddock on Thursday with an unidentified man, has been examined twice by a veterinary surgeon, who could find nothing wrong. He will be examained again before his start in the Whyte Handicap today. The examinations did not include swabs.

Tyree attributed Gus’s loss of appetite to the wet weather and the sweating after his trial to the mild morning.
