‘COUPLING DANGEROUS’
Barbiturates And Alcohol The Women’s Division of Federated Farmers is concerned at the number of fatalities caused by Barbiturate poisoning after the consumption of alcohol. At the annual conference members recommended that the Health Department be asked to widely publicise the dangers of Barbiturates when coupled with alcohol. The conference also sought clear labelling of bottles of tablets to this effect. The conference also decided that the Ministry of Health be urged to establish phychopaedic units at existing base hospitals. They suggested that the matter be treated as urgent. The conference also recommended that more geriatric units be made available at base hospitals for senile patients. Plunket Mothers’ Club.— Representatives of 26 clubs attended the annual meeting of the Christchurch Plunket Mothers’ Club Council. Officers elected were.—Patron. Mrs C. Wood: chairman, Mrs E.
