BOUNDARY CHANGES

Boundary changes are being considered by the Canterbury Rugby Union and the Canterbury Rugby Subunions’ Association. When the Kaiapol club transferred from the union competition to that of the North Canterbury sub-union, the latter applied for a boundary adjustment to cover the transfer. The union then suggested a general review of boundaries. The former Ellesmere. Malvern, and Banks Penin-

sula sub-unions have now combined under the name of Ellesmere. Peninsula teams have played in Ellesmere competitions for several seasons.

The Ellesmere area now extends from the Waimakariri to the Rakaia rivers, excluding the Canterbury union's metropolitan area. A suggestion by the chairman of the sub-unions’ association (Mr R. D. Gatherwood) that the sub-unions’ boundary be divorced from their shield competition is being considered.
