£9m. Loss On TV Licences
(Special Crspdt. N.ZP.A.)
LONDON. July 8
The British Broadcasting Corporation was losing £9 million in revenue because radio and television licences were not taken out by householders, the House of Commons was told.
Mr Edward Short, the Post-master-General, said that action to reduce the loss included the intensification of inquiries at households not recorded as licensed, the doubling of detector vans and consideration of ways in which dealers might help in enforcement of the licensing system.
