Election Call Rejected
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) NEW YORK, July 8. Britain has rejected Basutoland opposition party demands for new elections in the territory before it attains independence on October 4. The British delegate, Mr Francis Brown, also told the United Nations General Assembly’s special Committee on Colonialism, which received the demands on Wednesday, that Basutoland, or Lesotho as it will be called, could not become a South African-dominated “Bantustan” without the authority of a majority of its electorate.
