WAIMAIRI SEAT
By-election On July 27
Two candidates will contest a Waimairi County Council by-election on Wednesday, July 27, to fill the Belfast riding seat vacated by the resignation of Mr W. E. Cassidy. When nominations closed at noon yesterday, the returning officer (Mr K. Maclachlan) had received the names of Messrs A. W. Johns and G. G. Don.
Mr Don, a plumber, lives at Belfast. Mr Johns, a farmer, of Belfast, was an unsuccessful candidate in the Junior Chamber team that contested the main election in October.
