Two Tractor Drivers Killed
Two men were killed on Monday when tractors equipped with front - end loaders turned over, one in North Canterbury and one in Poverty Bay. The first suffered fatal injuries when his tractor turned over, pinning him underneath, on a farm near Motunau about It a.m. He was Mervyn lan Robert, aged 37, a widower. Mr Robert was employed on the 5000-acre fam. Happy Valley, of Mr C. N. Mackenzie. The accident occurred when Mr Robert was driving along a 25 degree slope, going around the sheep. Mr Robert’s body was not found until the evening. Mr J. Delaney, foreman for the Motunau Rabbit Board, was attracted to the scene by the dogs’ barking. Scooter In Collision A 19-year-old man was I killed instantly on Monday night when his motor scooter collided with a car. He was Michael Turney, of Jorys road, No. 3 R.D., Ohaupo. The accident occurred about 5.45 p.m. on the main Hamil-ton-Te Awamutu highway, a few miles from Te Awamutu. The driver of the car, Mr W. G. Marton, of Ohaupo. was not injured. Found In Pool The body of a 30-year-old man was found at the bottom of a hot pool in the grounds of the Geyserland Motor Hotel, Whakarewarewa, late on Monday night. His name is being withheld
till relatives overseas have been informed. The dead man arrived last Friday and was booked to stay at the hotel till next Saturday. He was found about 11.30 p.m. by two brothers, Messrs K and B.
