Grand Coeur, Tyrol Best At Awapuni
•*The Press** Special Service 1 PALMERSTON NORTH. ] Grand Coeur and Tyrol seem the best of Awa- , puni’s five runners in the i Hawke's Bay Centennial Hurdles at Hastings this week and did well in training at Awapuni. Grand Coeur will be trying to
win his fourth hurdle race on end but Tyrol, which is improving fast, probably will be at lucrative odds. Grand Coeur dashed over two hurdles at great speed, making two tremendous leaps. He later ran seven furlongs on the inside trial in Imin 34sec, the last three in 40 3-ssec. J. Hely will ride him again. On a fairly good track Grand Coeur could test Macdonald thoroughly. Tyrol jumped four hurdles very neatly and then covered I half a mile in 55sec, the last three furlongs in 41se.c He had no luck in the Awapuni Hurdles, but is a promising jumper which will be no forlorn hope : ar Hastings. Saturnian jumped two hurdles and then ran a mile on a heavy course proper at ISsec to the : furlong. He has been disap- ; pointing in recent attempts. Copper Fair, a Hastings ■ steeplechase prospect, took Imin 153 sec for a mile, the last three I furlongs in 42sec. It would be difficult to leave him out of cal- ■: culations this week. Comitis. an excellent hack prospect at Hastings, and Goldtone ran five furlongs in Imin 7 4-ssec. Comitis is in good . form. On the course proper Kamina took Imin 59sec for a mile, the last three furlongs in 47sec. She |is in the Hawke's Bay Hurdles. Tilly Light and Travistream I ran seven furlongs in imin 43sec, the last three in 45sec. Tilly Light did good work. He ' has won the Hawke’s Bay Hurdles twice and will attempt his third win on Saturday.
