WALTERS TO RIDE AT FLEMINGTON

"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. G. A. Walters, the leading; jumping rider in New Zea-1 land this season, left for Mel-| bourne yesterday to ride in the Grand National Hurdles at Flemington on Saturday. Walters had eight or nine telephone calls at his Matamata home on Monday—mostly from owners and trainers who offered him rides at Avondale on Saturday.

An unexpected caller was the Melbourne trainer, G. Hanlon, who offered him the ride on Exactly, which is on the seventh line of favouritism for the Grand National Hurdles at Flemington. Walters, aged 22, who won the Great Northern Hurdles earlier this month on Macdon-i aid as well as the Waikato; Steeplechase last month onj Ringlock, agreed to be at Flemington tomorrow to school the horse in his final trial. Walters intends to return home on Sunday to ride Lady’s Boy at the WanganuiEgmont hunt meeting the next Wednesday and Ring-
