DANGER ZONE
(N.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, June 28. Areas to be avoided by ships and aircraft during the nuclear testing at Mururoa atoll in the Pacific have been defined in a notification received by the French Embassy in Wellington today. The danger zone for ships comprises: a circle of 120 nautical miles radius from Mururoa 21deg. 50min: 138 deg. 47min w), and a circular sector stretching eastward of Mururoa for 400 nautical
mile# between azimuths 047 and 099. “All ships are advised urgently to stay outside the zones defined until further notice,” the embassy said. Aircraft have already been warned that the danger zone for them will extend eastward for the same area laterally, and in a general radius of 200 nautical miles, and in addition, they are warned that the altitude for danger in that area should be regarded as “unlimited.”
