AMENDED S.E.A.T.O.

The Australian Labour Party agrees with the New Zealand Opposition that the South-East Asia Treaty Organisation agreement should be amended, its leader, Mr Arthur Calwell, said today. Mr Calwell told a press conference in Canberra that if the A.L.P. won this year’s Federal election it would make moves towards turning S.E.A.T.O. into “an educational, cultural and social ' body." But he gave a guarantee that an Australian Labour , Government would maintain the A.N.Z.U.S. Treaty, under [Which America guarantees New Zealand and Australian , security. >
