T.T. CAPTAIN N.Z. CHAMPION
The captain of New Zealand’s Isle of Man team, N. J. Landrebe (Dunedin), has emerged a clear winner in the 500 c.c. class of the New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union’s 1965-66 road racing series.
The outcome of the three championships, 500 c.c., 350 c.c. and 250 c.c., held throughout the season, were announced yesterday by union officials.
H. R. Anderson (Ohinewai), the reigning world 125 c.c. champion, won the 350 c.c. class on his amazing little 125 c.c. works Suzuki. He also finished runner-up to Landrebe in the 500 c.c. class and runner-up to a fellow internatonal, W. G. Molloy (Huntly), in the 250 c.c. class —all on the same smallcapacity Japanese machine. In the 500 c.c. section. Landrebe finished well ahead with 30 points. Throughout the series he rode the same 500 c.c. Matchless that he intends to ride in the Isle of Man T.T. Anderson was second with 18 points, scraping in just ahead of the New Zealand Grand Prix winner, T. R. McCleary, jun. (Christchurch), who scored 16. Damiano Second Second to Anderson in the 350 c.c. class was the prominent Christchurch rider, D. Damiano. He scored 18 points, compared with Anderson’s 18.
F. Parnwell (Tauranga) was third with 12 points. K. McCleary (Christchurch) was third in the 250 c.c. class with 10 points. Molloy and Anderson scored 16 and 14, respectively.
