Kaitawa Fund i A total of £1064 has so far been given to the Kaitawa trust fund in the Canterbury district, the treasurer-super-intendent of the Canterbury Merchant Navy Centre (Mr D. Stuart) said yesterday. Members of the seamen’s union on the inter-island steamer Hinemoa had contributed £75 10s, and employees of Dunlop (N.Z.) Ltd., had given £46, Mr Stuart said. Light Frost Frosts of three degrees were recorded at Harewood and in the Botanic Gardens yesterday. The temperature at Harewood at 6 a.m. was 38 i degrees, rising to 45 degrees at 9 a.m. and 46 degrees at i midday. The maximum temperature of 55 degrees was recorded at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., and 58 degrees was shown on the Government Life building gauge at 4 p.m. It was 52 degrees in the Botanic Gardens at 3 p.m. The sky was cloudy all day, and a light north-easterly in the morning changed to a fresh north-westerly in the afternoon. Not Enough Rooms There were insufficient rooms at Lincoln College for all the examinations to be held there, the principal (Dr. M. M. Burns) told the meeting of the council yesterday. Because of this, some examinations would have to be held in the Lincoln Community Centre. Examinations in subjects taught at semesters would be held during the week from June 27 to July 1, Dr. Bums said.
