Ulster Fears

(N.Z P A.-Reuter —Copyrtohf • LONDON, June 27. The situation in Northern Ireland was last night described as “very dangerous” by the member of Parliament for Blackley, Manchester, Mr Paul Rose.

Mr Rose, who has investigated cases of prejudice in Northern Ireland, said he had received letters from people claiming to belong to the Ulster Volunteers —an underground extremist Protestant group —saying they were arming.

With Mr Gerry Fitt, the Republican Labour member of Parliament for Belfast West, Mr Rose has called an emergency meeting of M.P.s at the House of Commons to discuss a shooting incident in Belfast early yesterday in which an 18-year-old barman died. Two men were injured in the incident Mr Rose and Mr Fitt plan to seek an interview with the Home Secretary, Mr Roy Jenkins, and possibly with Prime Minister. They intend to put down a motion calling for an immediate inquiry into Northern Ireland affairs.
