Coles, the 31-year-old British professional match play champion for the last two years, won the Pringle £4006 golf tournament at Barnton, Edinburgh on Saturday. Coles scored an aggregate of 273 (15 under par) for the 72 holes to beat his Ryder Cup colleague. P. Alliss, by three strokes.

The New Zealander, R. R. Newdick, failed to qualify for the final two rounds with his 36hole total of 150 (77, 73).
