Suspended For Two Weeks
W. H. Beck was suspended from race riding until 5 p.m. on July 9 at an inquiry held into the Seafield Handicap at Ashburton on Saturday. Beck, the rider of Taxman, was charged with causing interference after the field had travelled about half a furlong. It was found that Beck bad allowed his mount to shift in from the outside barrier position causing some riders to be squeezed and E. J. Didham, on Jester Jinks, to check his mount “quite severely.” It was reported that Didham lost considerable ground.
