‘BRAILLE WEEK’

“Braille Week” will he held from Sunday. July 24, to Saturday, July 30, with the general theme “Partners in Blindness.” The number of blind persons registering with the New Zealand Foundation for the Blind was at present about 50 a month, said the regional organiser for Braille week (Mr H. W. Burrows). “The higher rate of increase is attributed, to a considerable degree, to a wider dissemination of knowledge of the work of the foundation and the needs of blind people, through the institution of the annual ‘Braille Week’," he said. This increasing awareness had gradually broken down the reserve that prevented many older people from taking the advantages of membership.
