Inquiries Into Taupo Poisonings Continue
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 26.
No sensational developments were expected in the police inquiries into the two poisoning deaths at Taupo over Easter, Detective Superintendent M. J. Ross, the head of the Auckland said tonight.
Statements and files continue to pour into the office of Mr Ross, who is faced with the task of condensing them into a preliminary report.
The two who died were David Charles Davison, aged 11, of Auckland, and Mrs Marjorie Edna Ellingham, of Wellington. Both died in hospital after attending social gatherings at holiday homes at Tauhara, near Taupo, on Easter Day.
Two other women became sick but recovered subsequently.
The two-month investigation, which started after the death of the boy, has been concentrated at Auckland, Wellington, and Taupo, where a rubbish tip was dug over in a vain search for vital evidence. Inquiries were also extended to Australia, Britain and Canada to the homes of other guests at the gatherings, who were asked to detail the foods they ate. Also requested were hair samples for analysis. Mr Ross said tonight that these inquiries were still not finished. He was also awaiting piore reports from Government analysts.
