OFFERS OF HELP
Farmer Who Lost Sheep
Offers of a small grazing paddock and 12 ewes have been received by Mr T. Hopkinson, who, in the last few weeks, has had 70 of his flock of 400 sheep savaged by dogs at his farm at Tuahiwi. The offer of the small paddock has been made by another Woodend resident living opposite Mr Hopkinson to graze the wounded sheep and allow them to recover in safety and where the owner can "keep an eye on them.” A Lincoln fanner who wishes to remain anonymous has offered 12 in-lamb ewes to Mr Hopkinson for the wool and the lambs to replenish his flock. The ewes will be returned when finished with. Advising “The Press” of these offers, Mrs Hopkinson said she and her husband were very grateful for the offers, made in the spirit of one farmer helping another. “We are thrilled to think that the farmer from Lincoln has made this generous offer, especially when we do not even know him,” said Mrs Hopkinson. “I am willing to help anyone out while I can, because I will only be passing this way once,” said the Lincoln farmer, declining the publication of his name.
