KAIAPOI IN PORT
Repaired At Sea

NEW PLYMOUTH, June 24. An engine breakdown in the Union Company’s collier Kaiapoi was repaired this afternoon and the 3069-ton ship arrived at the Port of Taranaki late tonight. The Kaiapoi—sister ship of the Kaitawa—hove to off Cape Egmont early this morning with a blockage in the lubrication system of one of its engines.
The blockage was cleared at 1 p.m. The faulty engine will be inspected tomorrow morning and another supply of oil will be taken aboard.
A road tanker carrying 2000 gallons of oil is due to arrive in New Plymouth tomorrow morning and the ship is expected to sail in the afternoon. She is bound for Northland with a cargo of coal.
