County Clerk Resigns
Mr W. H. Scrimgeour has resigned as clerk to the Heathcote and Mount Herbert County Councils. His letter of resignation was received at a meeting of the Heathcote council on Thursday night, and he gave verbal notice to Mount Herbert at its meeting yesterday. Mr Scrimgeour, who asked that his resigntion be effective from September 30, said he was taking up other employment. Born at Nelson, he has been a local body officer for 28 years. He joined the Nelson City Council, and became clerk to the Murchison County Council before taking over as Heathcote county clerk five years ago. In April, 1965, he became, in addition, Mount Herbert’s clerk.
