POLICE ZEPHYRS

A CAR specifically designed for police use is included in the latest Zodiac and Zephyr range from Ford of Britain.

The new Zephyr V 6 police car has been developed in co-operation with police authorities throughout the world and includes in its basic specification such items as a second interior mirror for the observer, a calibrated speedometer in the centre of the facia and, on the centre console, switches for the police bell, alternating horns, roof beacon, roof sign, boot lid sign, and the mounting points for the radio hand set.

The 3-litre V 6 engine usually fitted to the Zodiac provides the patrol car with a top*3peed well in excess of 100 m.p.h. An alternator is

fitted as standard equipment to provide charging even at idling speeds.

For the further convenience of police forces, automatic transmission, overdrive and a bench seat are available as optional equipment. Suspension on the new “Z” cars is independent all round; power operated, selfadjusting disc brakes are fitted to all four wheels and the steering column is adjustable for rake.

Exterior wing mirrors, a fog lamp and a fire extinguisher bracket are included as standard equipment. Ford police cars are now operating throughout the world. They are in service in Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, and with 92 police forces in Britain.
