CONSISTENT

Mogambo is holding his form well, but Is finding it hard to Improve on minor placings. Luck of the running has been against him at times, however.

Sabell’s weak run at Oamaru on Tuesday was made to appear more puzzling than ever when this useful performer beat We’ll Find Out and Shoshone over a mile, run in lmin 46sec.

We’ll Find Out finished in a gap of two lengths behind Shoshone, but was not being bustled at the end.

J. R. Dowling will ride We’ll Find Out In the Mayfield Hack Handicap. Danny Kaye (B. Edens) ran keenly to lead Apache (K. Quayle) by a length, finishing half a mile, the last three furlongs in 39sec.

IMPROVER

Tixall produced an Improver's run when she beat Cosmetic and Not Guilty by half a length from the half-mile in 51 sec. However, Not Guilty, with her trainer, D. J. Thistoll up, had the worst of it at the weights. Not Guilty and Cosmetic will start their careers in the Lyndhurst Two-year-old Handicap. Flair Go (Mrs V. Clutterbuck) sprinted six furlongs in Imin 20 3-ssec. Malecite (C. E. Wilson) joined in for the last five furlongs and the stablemates recorded 51 l-ssec for the final four.
