Aniuri Hospital

i Sir, —During the last week I have read with interest the letters advocating the reopening of the Amuri Hospital. At the same time X have become aware of the staff problems at the Cheviot Hospital and other country hospitals in the North Canterbury Hospital Board’s area. The suggested re-opening of one hospital and the threatened closing of others surely makes it necessary for the Hospital Board to declare its policy on the staffing of country hospitals. If it is possible even to consider re-opening the Amuri Hospital, surely the board must guarantee that the staff problem in. other country hospitals has been overcome and that their future is not in jeopardy. I also feel the people of Amuri must realise the answers to their medical problems do not centre about the opening ;of the Amuri Hospital. -—Yours, etc., ALPHA. June 22, 1966.
