Best Essay For Sixth Time
The Challenge Cup for the Canterbury branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society's essay competition was presented to Linwood High School yesterday by the president of the society (Mr M. L. Bernacchi). Christopher Royfee, of Linwood, won the competition, and the award included £2O for himself, £lO of which ii in books, and £lO for the school library. It is the sixth time the school has won the cup. A St. Andrew's College boy, P. A. Saps ford, came second in the local competition. Hi* prize was book tokens worth £5.
