Women’s Test Drawn
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) SCARBOROUGH. The. three-day women’s cricket match between England and New Zealand ended in a draw yesterday. Final scores: England 273/6 dec. (R. Heyhoe 113, E. Barker 54) and 134/2 (Heyhoe 59 not out, J. Whitney 40): New Zealand 178 (J. Doull 74) and 79/2. Cowdrey Again (NZ.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LONDON. The M.C.C. announced yesterday that M. C. Cowdrey has been appointed captain of England in the third test, starting at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on June 3®. Cowdrey captained England in the second test, which ended in a draw yesterday.
Field Day.—The second of the local Rugby clubs to hold a field day this season, Suburbs wSt commandeer South Hagley Park, numbers 17 to 23, oh Saturday. All of the chib's teams, with the exception of senior, will take part tn games on these grounds. Jaxy Withdraws.—Michel Jazy, France’s champion distance runner, has withdrawn from a 5000-metre duet with Australia’s Ron Clarke on Friday night. Jaxy is giving precedence'to two races - scheduled for Saturday and Supday.
