Signs On Side Roads

The mandatory control of all roads intersecting with state highways in rural areas was favoured by the roads, patrols and services committee of the Automobile Association (Canterbury), it was reported to the association s council last evening. The association had been; asked if. when signposting, it could indicate to road users that they were on a priority road and had right of way. The chairman (Mr J. R. Mating) had said he did not think the association could do much at this stage, although he was sympathetic. Mr T. D. Craig said that local authorities had been making efforts to install stop or give way signs on sideroads intersecting main roads. Such signs should be on all roads joining state highways, but this was not ye 4 the case.
