SUKARNO DISAGREES
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) DJAKARTA, June 22. President Sukarno today took issue with the new Indonesian regime’s decision to seek foreign aid by calling on Congress to reject dependence on “imperialist” assistance. “Emphasis should be placed on self-reliance,” he said in his first major speech since he handed over executive power to Lieutenant-General Suharto in March. “We should reject dependence on imperialist aid. Inflation should be curbed and payment of our foreign debt should be achieved by selfreliance,” he said.
