Right Of Way
Sir,—A horse and rider are half way across a one-way bridge about 100 yards long. A car approaches on to the bridge. Would you please advise who has “right of way,” horse or car?. —Yours, etc., JACK-WANT-TO-KNOW.
June 13, 1966. [The district officer of the Transport Department (Mr D. L. Hogan) replies: “The horse and rider would have the right of way. The car driver must drive with reasonable consideration for other persons using the road and he would not be doing this if he drove on to a one-way bridge when the horse was half-way across.”]
