Kaiapoi Bus Stops Moved

Alterations to four bus stops were decided on by the Kaiapoi Borough Council last evening. The town planning and by-laws committee recommended that the Ohoka road (north bound) stop be moved north of the intersection and that the southbound stop be moved further north; that the Hilton street (southbound) stop be extended to make room for two buses; and that the no parking signs at the Charles street stop, opposite the Post Office Savings Bank, be eliminated. At the May meeting of the council the traffic officer had expressed concern that the stops in Ohoka road were far too close to the corners. On several occasions there had nearly been accidents because of lack of visibility, and traffic on the stop sign of Ohoka road could not see north or south-bound vehicles.
