Ataarangi And Baron ' s Lady Win Course Double

Ataarangi, from Wingatui, and the Oamaru-trained Baron’s Lady paid £155 19s 6d for £1 in the on-course double at Oamaru yesterday.

ONE FOR RICCARTON The Christchurch-owned, Rlc-carton-trained Tsunami confirmed the worth of some very good gallops in training by beating the staying hacks in the Walkaura Handicap, for which he was favourite. Mr J. R. Pitcalthly’s Tsaoko colt disputed the pace with Patrician and Full Course from the haU-mUe to the straight, shook off Patrielan without

much bother early in the run home, but had to be hardridden right to the finish to beat the long-shot Full Course by a nose.

He ran Full Course to three-quarters of a length and beat Etassem, running on from mid-field, by two lengths. ALL LONG-SHOTS Lucky Streak, Standard Time and Sandy Man, three of the lesser fancied runners, filled the dividend bearing places in the Farewell Hack Handicap. Lucky Streak, the Uth favourite to win, ran from a trailing position into the lead early in the run home and beat Standard Time, 10/11 in the betting, by three lengths. Standard Time, which had disputed most of the pace with Lady Sabaean, saved second by half a neck from Sandy Man, the outsider but one in the 17horse field. Sandy Man received the run of the race to the straight. Glocca Morra was two lengths and a half back fourth. She shaded a group comprising Falama-L Dowmanca and Corrie Gilpin.

BeHock improved two places and picked up at least five lengths in the run home. Pasowa made ground for fourth, but was more than a length from Lorastan at the finish.
