R.N.Z.A.F. PLANES

Report To Govt. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 21. The R.N.Z.A.F. made its recommendation to the Government on aircraft to replace its Canberras three weeks ago, the Chief of the Air Staff (Air Vice-Marshall 1. G. Morrison) said today. If the Canberra was to be replaced operationally by 1970 every moment of the time between now and January 1 of that year would be needed to start programming and arrange times of delivery, he said. “If we got the replacements on the ground at the end of 1968, we would just be able to do it,” he said. He said he could not release the name of the aircraft the Air Force had recommended.
