Steele, Smyth Win Bowls

Consistent and accurate bowling enabled the Burwood pair, J. Steele (skip) and A. Smyth (lead), to win the final of the monthly pairs tournament conducted by the Burwood Indoor Bowls Club. In the final they defeated A. Russell (skip) and T. Thompson (lead), Post Office, two of the youngest players competing, 6-5. Of the 50 teams competing 19 qualified for post-section play. Results: Quarter-finals: A. Russell 9, M. Farrell 6: Mrs A. McDonald 10, Mrs Murray 4; J. Steele 7, E. Bell 6; R. Williams 8, B. Stewart 6. Semi-finals: Russell 9, Mrs McDonald 5; Steele 10, Williams 6.
