Gathering Of The Clans

(Special Crspat. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, June 14. Fifty-one Scottish clan chiefs have been summoned from ail round the world to attend a gathering in Inverness this month.

The gathering association chairman, Mr Allan McPherson, hopes that 15,000 clansmen will attend and make it the biggest gathering of the dans since men rushed round with fierj’ crosses at the drop of a daymiMC. It will be only the fourth organised gathering of dan chiefs since 1945. Fifty of the 51 chiefs have sent their blessings and the other is a lowland chief, who, Mr McPherson says, runs a gathering of his own. Twenty-nine clans will be represented in style with their own marquees where they refresh themselves and discuss family history—the object of the meeting.
