Unlicensed Driver Fined On Three Charges
“You are a menace on the, road and also to other people,” Mr K. H. J. Headifen, SJtf., said to Louis Maramatanga Herewini, aged 26, a workman, at Lyttelton yesterday. Herewini pleaded guilty to three traffic charges. He admitted that he had been driving four years without a licence. Sergeant G. B. Riach said that the defendant was unable to take the bend from the Road Tunnel portal at Lvttelton at 8.30 pun. on April 21. He struck a light bollard and a traffic sign. On a charge of careless use of a motor-car, Herewini was fined £l5. He was also fined £l5 for having no driver’s licence and £5 for failing to report damage. He was prohibited from obtaining a licence for two years. Herewini had been previously convicted for driving
without a licence, the Magistrate said. TRAFFIC OFFENCES Carrying a pillion passenger contrary to his licence: Edward Temana Reihana, £3. No driver’s licence: Michael James Tyro. £6 (registration plates not affixed, £2). Permitting use of unlicensed vehicle: John Illingworth. £1 (no warrant of fitness. £1). Load too wide: Rhind’s Transport. Ltd., £B. Two watersiders. Bernard Bryan Knight and Jacobus Pater, were each fined £2 for parking in a prohibited area. NOXIOUS WEEDS For failing to clear his proi perty of noxious weeds, William John Burnett was fined £3. Glendore (N.Z.), Ltd, was fined £4 for a similar ! offence and Rex Edward Jones was convicted.
JUDGMENT SUMMONSES K. Tauwhare was ordered to pay N.Z. Industrial Union of Workers, £5 10s (seven days or £1 10s a week); N. Delaney to pay Reliance Radio Electrical Services of Nelson £l4 3s 5d (16 days or £4 a week).
