MURPHY TO DECIDE
Medical Test The former New Zealand professional light-weight champion, D. Murphy, will see a specialist tomorrow before deciding whether he will fight K. Amarfio (Ghana) on July 28. A letter from Murphy’s solicitor and a medical certificate from his doctor were received by the Canterbury Boxing Association last evening. The medical report said that Murphy was undergoing treatment on his left knee and had been advised not to run on it. Two bouts between E. Mensah (Ghana) and Australian opponents were arranged after a delegation from the association met Mensah and his trainer (Mr K. Dawson). This reply was given to a question by Mr Drury. He had asked who had arlanged the fights and whether the association was committed to the second fight if the first was not a success. A delegation met the boxer and his trainer, said Mr T. Wildes. Mensah agreed to the terms offered and the delegation contacted Mr A. Palmer in Australia and arranged the fight.
