VALUATION STAFF

10 Areas Being Inspected Valuation Department field staff are inspecting all properties in 10 counties and boroughs in Canterbury and the West Coast in preparation for the issue of new Government valuations. In country areas of Canterbury, inspections are being made in the Eyre, Ashley, Oxford, Kowai, Mount Herbert, and Akaroa counties.

On the West Coast, valuation staff are working at Runanga and Hokitika. At Timaru a start will be made soon on the industrial area of the city and Gleniti. Valuers are also inspecting parts of the Lyttelton borough. Practically the whole of the Ricca rt on borough has been Inspected. The branch manager of the department (Mr V. R. Aitken) said yesterday that the new valuations would be sent to property holders from September onwards. Rural field staff have almost finished in the Ashley and Oxford areas, and half the Eyre county has been completed.

Properties in the Pigeon Bay riding of the Akaroa county have been inspected, and valuers are now at Le Bons Bay. From there they will move to the Wainui riding. Valuations of properties in Akaroa county town are also under way.
