Petrol For Rhodesia
Sir,—Your front-page article suggests that certain powers are seeking to dishonour those who have shown sympathy with Mr lan Smith in Rhodesia. Also, Mr Mitchell shows a keen political sense in lodging his protest about the use of the term “Anzac.” The actions of Parliament are usually in the interests of the majority, but that does not mean that the minority has no right of expression. On this occasion we have the action of a few people who have expressed
their democratic right In as grand a manner as possible in the circumstances, and if this right is not one of the fundamental issues with which the name of “Anzac” is associated, then what does “Anzac” stand for?—Yours, etc., H. June 14, 1966. “Carnage” Sir,—The game of "Carnage” is another reason why the voting age should not be lowered. It is difficult for “students” and "beatniks” to find board and lodging in Christchurch. We know why! —Yours, etc., CITIZEN. June 15, 1966.
