Apathetic Drinkers

(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A > SYDNEY, June 14. A society for the prevention of alcoholism formed in Darwin 18 months ago has been disbanded because of public apathy. “There’s more interest in consuming alcohol than in preventing its effects.” the society’s president, Mr Leslie Hesven, ssid. He said beer consumption in the northern territory was about one gallon a week for every man, woman and child.
