JOCKEYS’ INJURIES

'‘The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Capable hurdle jockeys are becoming difficult to find in the southern half of the North Island. At present three leading jockeys are not working because of injuries. C. McGovern, hurt in a race fall at Waverley recently, was discharged from hospital last Thursday, but will not ride again this winter. B. J. Clements, who broke a leg in three places at Awapuni on Saturday, expects to be in hospital for six weeks and may not work again for some time. F. I. Robinson was on crutches last Saturday night with suspected pelvis injuries. Results of X-ray examinations are not yet known. Clements yesterday denied a newspaper report that he intended to retire.
