Huntaway To Be Decided Today
The straight huntaway event will be completed today at the national sheep dog trials being held between Tai Tapu and Motukarara. The initial placings will be for the South Island championship. Mr D. P. Graham, president of the Tai Tapu Collie Dog Club, said that the leading seven dogs in the event would then run off again so that the New Zealand championship could be determined. The New Zealand championships in the other three events being held at the trials will not be decided until Saturday, when the seven leading dogs in the South Island championship in each class will run Off again. The resumption of the trials yesterday morning was delayed for about threequarters of an hour by fog, but thereafter events on all three courses continued uninterrupted, although in the afternoon the grounds were swept by wintry showers. In spite of the conditions, Mr Graham said, there had been some good runs, and the attendance had been similar to that on the first day, with visitors present from Banks Peninsula and North Canterbury, as well as further afield.

The St. Alban* Bowling Club recently opened its new block construction building for players of the large bowl. Weil equipped with a concrete floor of 66ft 61n playing length of smooth running with standing space at sides and full-length seating room at each end, the pavilion will fill an avenue for club activity during the winter months.
The past president. Dr. P. E. Starr, Initiated the campaign, and under the construction supervision of Mr L. Martin, a member, St. Albans, has a building it can be proud of. Entries will be invited from business firms and from sister clubs for friendly and competitive play in both afternoons and evenings.
The speakers for th* official opening were Dr. Starr, Mr P. Gardner, the new president, Mr N. G. Pickering (Christchurch City Council), and the chairman for the Indoor bowls section, Mr L. Harris.
