20-GOAL WIN

(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL The Australian basketball team gained a 20-goal victory over Southland in Invercargill last night in what must have been the best display of basketball seen in the city. An intricate knowledge of each player’s style and position, more speed and accurate shooting, combined to give Australia a solid lead and to win, 61-41. Quarter results were: Australia 15. Southland 13: 34, 21: 46, 31; 61. 41. The high scoring was well beyond expectations. The Southland team went down to Rotorua (its only defeat) at last year’s Dominion tournament, by six goals. Presbytery Funds.—An allocation of £27,316 has been made to the Presbytery of Christchurch by the General Assembly finance committee, for 1966-67. This was conveyed to the monthly meeting of the Presbytery in a letter from 'the committee.
